Start with the shortlist.

If you only use a few recommendations, these are the easiest ones to trust first.

Arrival

Getting Here

Arrival at PVR can feel a little chaotic the first time. The simplest move is to decide in advance whether you want the easiest official taxi option or a cheaper app-based pickup.

Simplest arrival

If you want the least friction, use one of the prepaid taxi counters inside arrivals. Aeromovil and Transportes Terrestres are the airport-authorized counters typically used for Puerto Vallarta arrivals.

Expect fixed-rate pricing into Zona Romantica rather than negotiation.

What to expect to pay

Recent published airport-zone pricing for the Romantic Zone is roughly MXN 616 to MXN 650 for a standard car, with higher rates for vans and larger groups.

That is usually more expensive than an in-town taxi or rideshare, but easier after a long flight.

Lower-cost option

Uber pickups are supported from PVR, but pickup instructions can vary in the app and may involve a longer walk than the prepaid taxi option.

If you are tired, carrying luggage, or arriving at a busy time, the prepaid taxi is often worth the premium.

Wandering

Wandering

This neighborhood is best enjoyed with a loose plan, not a packed schedule. A few easy walks make the area click quickly.

Olas Altas to the pier

Start at Lazaro Cardenas Park and walk south along Olas Altas toward Los Muertos Pier for the clearest first-night neighborhood read.

North to the Malecon

Walk north from Zona Romantica into Centro and keep going until you hit the Malecon for a longer waterfront stroll with more city energy.

Art-and-coffee drift

If you like walking tours, build a loose route through side streets in Emiliano Zapata, then continue into the Historic Center galleries and cafes.

La Cappella

$$$

Best sunset. More formal, very good for a dress-up evening or a reservation-worthy date night.

Optional LGBTQ+

A well-known part of the neighborhood, but not the whole story

Zona Romantica is one of Puerto Vallarta's most welcoming LGBTQ+ areas. If that scene is part of your trip, these are easy anchors. If not, you can skip this section entirely.

Mantamar

$$$

A popular adults-only beach club at the south end of Los Muertos Beach with a more social daytime energy.

Mr. Flamingo

$$

A lively cocktail-and-music corner that is popular, easy to find, and approachable even if you are only out casually.

Act2PV / The Palm

$$

Two good performance-forward options if a show, cabaret, or seated night out sounds better than bar hopping.

Optional Note

For guests specifically seeking more explicit adults-only nightlife, it is usually better to ask for current suggestions than to treat those venues like default concierge picks.

Easy wins for families and mixed groups
